Southampton is on the English south coast and has approx. 250,000 inhabitants. The city was founded by the Romans, but the bombings during World War II were hard at the city, and a large part of the old buildings were destroyed. Therefore, Southampton is today modern, but with an old interesting city history. Southampton is also known as Europe’s Cruise Capital , and the place from which Titanic began its maiden voyage at the time – although it may not be so reassuring to know.
Worth seeing – The Bargate. An old piece of city wall, preserved in the city center and today is one of the city’s hallmarks. SeaCity Museum. A modern museum that tells about Titanics history.
Climate – A temperate coastal climate that is characterized by warm summers with temperatures around 20 degrees, and mild winters with temperatures around 5 degrees.
Currency – Euro (€).
